We are hiring for some exciting roles :
Roles are full time and based in the Hamilton Institute at Maynooth University, Kildare, Ireland. For the Postdoc and Senior Postdoc roles the work will involve designing DNA nanostructures, including DNA origami, DNA tile-based systems and DNA computers of any/every kind including new, imaginative, designs. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to carefully design and execute wet-lab experiments and / or mathematically and computationally analyse the computational power of molecular computers.
The Technical Officer/Senior Technical Officer role requires a background in use of lab-based experimental techniques including but not limited to: atomic force microscopy (AFM), fluorescence microscopy, bulk fluorescence assays (using qPCR machine, or fluorescence plate reader), agarose /polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, etc. We use python code so having familiarity with programming is a bonus, and at the very least there is expectation to be willing to learn how to program.
As part of Maynooth University Research Week 2024 we were delighted to host a public launch of our EIC Pathfinder Challenge project, in partnership with prgm.dev and tilibit nanosystems.
The event was held on Monday 21st Oct 2024, in the Hamilton Institute at Maynooth University, with a short introduction to the project from PI Prof Damien Woods introduced by Maynooth University’s Vice President for Research and Innovation Prof. Rachel Msetfi. It was attended by over 60 people and generated media coverage in a range of Irish media outlets.

We were delighted to attend the first DNA-based digital data storage (#DigNA) portfolio meeting which took place in Munich last week. DISCO is one of 9 #EUeic funded projects from the 2022 #EUeic Pathfinder challenge in DNA based data storage. The portfolio is managed by Programme Manager Isabel Obieta Vilallonga with Carlos Casorrán, Lucia Farina, together with Prof. Martyn Amos
It was a great opportunity to catch up with our collaborators tilibit nanosystems and prgm.dev and to meet and engage with the other portfolio projects MI-DNA Disc, PEARL-DNA, DIDAX, DNAMIC, DURA-store, HYPERION, NEO and TextaDNA. The meeting included a full day workshop with presentations from each of the 9 portfolio projects, thank you to Abeer Eshra for the excellent presentation on our DISCO project. It also included a poster session and break out sessions for the different Working Groups within the #DigNA portfolio.
The following day included a fascinating tour of Technical University of Munich; thank you to our hosts who kindly took the time to show us around. We look forward to collaborating with #DigNA colleagues on the next steps which will include a Portfolio Strategic Plan.

Coordinated by Maynooth University, with partners tilibit nanosystems and prgm dev the consortium came together for a hybrid virtual/in person kick-off meeting hosted at Maynooth University.

The EIC Summit 2024 will kick off with a joint opening of the EU Research & Innovation Week, on 18 March 2024.
Day 2, 19 March, will be fully dedicated to EIC beneficiaries with workshops covering diverse issues for researchers and entrepreneurs, such as intellectual property rights, investments, or scaling up your company.
After that, it’s the start of the Research and Innovation Days providing a full R&I related programme, closing at the end of the 21st of March.
